About

About Emi and Matt

What Emi and Matt is for, who writes it, how claims are checked, and where to write when we get something wrong.

What you are reading

Emi and Matt publishes when there is something to publish. There is no schedule and no filler, and every piece stays in the archive even after we have changed our minds about it.

We started publishing after realising that the useful information about Cooking, home life and weekend trips for two existed, but only in the heads of people who had no reason to write it down. Emi and Matt writes it down.

Who is responsible for this

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Odalys Trent, Co-founder and kitchen writer. Odalys spent six years cooking for a catering company and now cooks for exactly two people, which turned out to be harder than cooking for eighty.

Bastian Kellerman, Home and budget editor. Bastian has logged every shared household expense in one spreadsheet since the first month he and Odalys moved in together.

Celestine Nwosu, Travel and games writer. Celestine plans the weekend trips, keeps the co-op game shelf in order and writes up both with the receipts attached.

The topics

  • Games. Cozy, co-op and home-building video games we play together on weeknights and lazy Sundays.
  • Kitchen Notes. Cooking two portions at a time, shopping lists that do not rot, and dinners that survive a long workday.
  • Our Home. Keeping a small flat tidy, warm and pleasant without filling it with things.
  • Weekend Trips. Short trips planned around trains, cheap rooms and one good meal.
  • Budget Living. How two people share bills, save a little and argue less about money.
  • Together. Routines, chores and the small agreements that make sharing a home easier.

Articles are filed under one topic each, so an archive page reads as a list rather than a pile. Most of the traffic here lands on games, kitchen notes and our home.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. Emi and Matt was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

The money side

There is no subscription, no newsletter upsell and no course. If that changes we will announce it on this page before anywhere else.

How we work

The method is dull and it works. Explain what happens, explain what it costs, explain what can go wrong, then stop writing.

Nobody has editorial input except the people whose names are on the articles. That includes anyone who has ever sent us money.

The full process, including corrections and commercial links, is set out on the editorial policy page.

Where we stop

There are questions we routinely decline. Anything that depends on facts only you can see, and anything where being wrong would cost you real money on our say so.

Telling us we are wrong

Tell us which line is wrong and why, at [email protected] or through the contact page. Small errors are corrected the same week. Anything that changes the advice gets a dated note at the bottom of the article.
